One important note. The app sends a command to the thermostat over your home network. If the thermostat Wi-Fi module is malfunctioning, the app may show the thermostat as connected but the reset command never arrives.

If that happens, a manual reset on the thermostat itself is the only option.

Preserving Your Settings Before You Reset

A factory reset wipes your schedule, system type, and temperature settings. If you have a carefully programmed schedule with different temperatures for each day, losing it is frustrating. Here is how to save your settings before resetting.

Method 1: Use the Schedule Reset option.

If your thermostat is a touchscreen model, the menu offers a Schedule Reset. This clears only the schedule. It leaves your Wi-Fi, system type, and temperature calibration intact.

This is the best option when you need to clear a schedule glitch without losing everything else.

Method 2: Write down your schedule.

This sounds old school, but it is the most reliable method. Go through each day of the week. Write down the temperature set points and times.

Most Honeywell thermostats allow up to 4 periods per day: Wake, Leave, Return, and Sleep.

The Honeywell Home app does not have an official backup export feature. But you can take screenshots of each day schedule in the app. This creates a visual reference you can use to reprogram the thermostat after the reset.

This is the most critical setting. Write down whether your system is set to Conventional, Heat Pump, Dual Fuel, or Multi Stage. You can find this in the System Setup menu.
